Divisibility Rule of 8

Divisibility Rule of 8 :

A natural number is divisible by 8, if the number formed by its digits in units, tens and hundreds place is divisible by 8.

Justification:

Consider a three digit number abcd.

We have,

         overline{abcd} = 1000a + 100b + 10c + d

Rightarrow    overline{abcd} = 1000a + (100b + 10c + d )

Rightarrow    overline{abcd} = 1000a + overline{bcd}

Rightarrow    overline{abcd} = ( 8 times 125a ) + overline{bcd}

Rightarrow    overline{abcd} = a multiple of 8 + overline{bcd}

Rightarrow    overline{abcd} is divisible by  8, if overline{bcd} i.e. the number formed by digits in units, tens and hundreds places is divisible by 8.
